Carfax Status

Post by brianp87 »

In the news it says "• CARFAX is no longer supplying VIN information. Because of this, the Manager SE install process will not install the CARFAX Client Communication Channel, since it is no longer required. Users will no longer be prompted to accept the CARFAX EULA when decoding a vehicle in the program. If a customer wishes to continue sending information to CARFAX they must install the CARFAX Service Link program."

Does this mean it automatically stopped sending info via carfax?

The short answer is YES.

This communication channel will not be installed for first time (new) installs and as upgrades for existing users, it will disable that send.

Do we need to wait for the update before the VIN decoder starts using Polk data? I just clicked decode and got prompted to accept the CARFAX EULA.

What has changed in the decoder, as Polk owns CarFax?

We pay Polk to distribute the database with our application. Carfax was included for free, but then nothing is free. :)
