2002 Subaru Forester - D-Shaft

Alrighty, seems while thinking I drive a rally car I cracked a u-joint cap, front u-joint, rear shaft. And you all know that all the books say it needs a new shaft. My cost on the shaft is about $610.00.

Looking for someone that can just replace the 3 u-joints. Or a hint on where to call. I have looked at used, my worries are these shafts are know to be junk. Hate to replace a junk shaft with a 75% junk shaft.
Of course like any customer, I'd like it today! (haha) There is ice fishing to be done.

Unclear as you say front joint but rear shaft?
Quick look at Car-Part.com filtered to Michigan reveals front (2 versions prod date break) or rear shafts are all less than $100. Many at $65 & $75 from 2000-2002 vehicles. The fact there were so many listings cheap indicates two things:
1. They don't sell a lot of these
2. Most don't drive them like you.

Mine car is AWD (or it was). I need the drive shaft that goes from the transfer case/transmission back to the rear end. It's a two piece shaft. Busted a big junk of the cap off the front u-joint. I'll go to car-part and see what I can find. Thanks

Okay DRIVE shaft, I was looking at AXLE shaft.
This is a front to rear with at least 2 sections CV in it. CP does show a front AT for about $100. Probably more results in other states....

Had one of these a while back, and I went with a used shaft of off Car-Part. Just checked the shaft when I recieved it and installed. Customer is still driving the car today. Got to love Subaru!!!

I think we can call this one fixed. We ordered 1-0430 u-joints from Car Quest. They seam to fit well. Shaft is still on work bench, not yet test driven. But with 15 inches of snow coming tomorrow I am thinking i'll put it to the test. Hope it works! The 88 Honda carburetor isn't liking the cold weather.
