Profit Reports
Is there any way to view profit by category without technician pay affecting the report? We monitor payroll separately and I really just want to see a daily separate report based on the cost of goods vs. sale without tech commison. For us the report "Category Profit Summary" is what we are using since we need to record profits for service and tires. We are new to Mitchell, so any help on this would be awesome!

Welcome to the Forum.
I'm having a hard time understanding what you want.
First lets make sure we're talking about the same report. This would be the Category Profit Summary Report, correct?

Second, with regards to any 'profit' report, one will always weigh costs against sales. If you take the cost part out, then it's not a profit report, but a sales report. Which do you want?Is there any way to view profit by category without technician pay affecting the report?
The Category Profit Summary Report will do that. Just look at the bottom where the parts only totalsI really just want to see a daily separate report based on the cost of goods vs. sale without tech commission.

Re: Profit Reports
No problem. I am talking about the Category Profit Summary. I pay my technicians a commission percentage of both parts and labor. The amount of that percentage is showing up in the cost of parts and labor on this report. This is affecting how we record gross profit incorrectly. The parts costs are not adding up properly. When I did the math, I discovered the difference was the commission amount the technician was being paid.
The only thing I expect to see in the cost area on any category are the cost of the parts or materials I inputted, not technician pay.
First off, I hope this makes sense. Second, is this normal? If it is, is there any other report which has a wider detail on gross profit?

Re: Profit Reports
OK. I see more clearly.
Yes, I would expect the tech commission to be figured in when calculating profit. I think most shops would want this figured in.
Take a look at the Business Summary report. I'm pretty sure it shows gross profit on parts without tech commission figured in. I'm home right now but I'll check this myself in the morning

Re: Profit Reports
Also check out the Part Sales By Vendor report. Looks like tech commission is not figured in that one also.

Re: Profit Reports
Thanks for the help. Figured a workaround by just adding cost from technician pay to my overall gross profit. Wanted to avoid this extra step, but it's not really a big deal.
