Car came in with fan not working. tested and found a bad fan motor replaced motor and now fan runs all the time. I have tested the best I can with to help. I then threw a few parts relay and temp sensor. still nothing. The wire from the temp sensor to the ecu is good. I belive the ecu tells the fan to come on when the temp is high but what wire does that and where does it go any help would be great and correct me if I'm wrong about the ecu turning the fan on thanks (92 celica gt with 2.2 in line 4)

I believe there is a separate switch for the fan living in the lower radiator tank. Is this the fan switch you replaced? Should be right next to the lower hose.

when fan siezed up it's not uncommon to find stuck relays. there is a cooling fan relay, there is a temp sensor for the pcm. a cooling fan sensor and i believe depending on what a/c system the car has there may be a default system if the pressure gets too high in the a/c system. if relay did stick and overheat check for melted wires in the fuse module.

found sensor at bottom of radiator to have both wires broken off fixed the wires and still have same problume. I also check wires in fuse box and all seem to look good. Going to replace sensor in radiator and see if I get any results

Installed new sensor and sill same result. Any other help would be great.

did the customer try to fix this before you got it? I would ask. and if their mechanic cusin had it first, find out what he did.
maybe it was overheating cuz the wires were broken, and he hot wires the fan somehow.

the customer has only had the care here since he bought it in july 2008 and i can not find any extra wires going to the fan motor. thanks for the help. Does any one know what tells the fan to come on. I now the relay does but what tells the relay? On the wiring diagram it goes to an rdi fuseable link but then where?

Does this have manual AC or auto AC?

Also, I believe this system works when the circuit is OPEN. So any wire that has a break in it could cause the fan to run.

this has manual a/c and I agree that it works on an open but if I dont know what wires to check off the ecu than how can I find the open. I think I have an open or broken wire but where is the question?
