Hello Everyone,
I have a 2000 F250 5.4l with 48K showing. Customer complains "Doesn't want to start when it's zero out, cranks over ok but, stumbles when it catches till I give it some gas". No codes stored, although I'm getting p01000 Checks not complete. Fuel pressure is 36psi on key up, 32psi idling. ECT is right on the money according to my infared temp gun. My problem is it's 35 degrees today, so I cannot duplicate the conditions. I was hoping someone has run into this before. Can't find ant TSB's or symptom diagnostics on this particular problem.

I have seen the cam sensor on the left front timing cover act up like this.

Thanks for the response guys. I took the IAC off and ohm checked it @10 ohms (6-13 is the acceptable range according to Ford) its does appear to have either carbon or dirt of some sort in the plunger area. I could not find any testing info on the cam sensor however. Is there a way to check that? I have a Solus scanner with 8.3 (good to 07 vehicles) at this time.

I use my lab scope for checking a cam sensor.

Unfortunately I don't have access to a lab scope. Not sure i would see anything out of the ordinary until the pieces in question were cold to the extreme. I explained all this to my customer,and he was okay with installing a new IAC. If that doesn't work he assured me I will be getting a phone call.

The other thing I can do at times is install a known good sensor and let the customer drive it for awhile. I have already done that in lieu of time consuming diagnosis. the cam sensor in this engine is easy to get to so beings I have a good sensor, it would be easy to go that route.
