Anyone know of sourcing for this axle? Ford no longer makes this. Found one on partsvoice but it's sketchy. Looking for RH side. Maybe someone aftermarket makes one?

Thanks, we're trying to stay new if possible, but it looks like used is going to be the choice.

brandywine in the carolinas is tied in with the dumping ground for obsolete ford parts. before dorman started making manifolds that were readily available that's where i got all mine. the numbers were ground off but the ford stamp was still there................

So I got my axle...finally. What a story.

I used Car-Part.com. Not sure if I'll ever do that again, but it started out real nice. Found a yard about 30 miles from here that had one for 75 bucks. Called first thing last Tuesday the 12th. Person on the phone was great and gave me a price of only 50 bucks plus 10 bucks shipping. I paid with a cc and they said it would be here Wednesday the 13th. Wow! At around 3pm Weds I call because I haven't seen it yet. Seems someone called in sick, busy day, yada yada and it won't be here until Thursday. No big deal but you could've called me. Thursday rolls around and they show up.........with an axle SHAFT for a 4WD! Nope, take it back. I call and explain the situation. The first person could not understand so I get handed off to another. They figure it out and say they'll send the right one on Friday. Friday rolls around and I don't have my hopes up. I get a call around 4pm from the driver. He wants to know how late I'm here. I say 530 and he says no problem. 530 comes and goes and still no part. Today he shows up. It's the right part but the invoice is wrong. It says 75 instead of 60. And it says COD and I paid with a credit card. I call the guy up again and explain. He wants to charge me 75 because that's what it is. I say that clearly someone made a mistake but why would I pay for their mistake. I know it's only 15 bucks but I'm testing their integrity. He very reluctantly agrees. It takes him about 10 minutes to figure out I already paid.

I know this isn't Car-Part.com's fault, but c'mon man! You're making post me like Steve here!!!! There wasn't a single part of this 'first encounter' that went right. I'm tired.

Wow, that's a laugh or cry story. PM me the yard name if you would.

I've had really good luck getting parts, including a complete set of seats shipped here for a Honda Odyssey van. How's that for a total act of faith?

Not everybody's yard will meet typical standards and good people do move around. Even back in the private hotline days (black phone on the wall with speaker where yards call out what they are looking for), we had notes like "don't buy from XYZ because they are clueless". About the 3rd time they show up with the wrong item, they made the list.

I hate when I get a hold of someone like that at a parts yard, like you I try to use new, but sometimes you have no choice. As for car-part.com, I use it all the time and don't really have any complaints. I do have to watch what yards I call though. Don't hold your experance against car-part, it would be like getting pissed at the yellow pages for bad service somewhere. Steve, the last time I went to a yard for a salvage hunt, I wound up finding a 4 3/4 foot timber rattler hiding under a car, decided then if I need a part, I will call and have it delivered, no more snake hunting for me......

I don't fault Car-Part, but do they have a feedback method or something. Someone needs to know.
