I have a GMC Yukon that howls/whines at start up. After a few minutes it stops. The noise is coming from a valve at the right side under the hood on top close to the fire wall. Can anyone help me with the name of this valve.

Yes, a year and an engine size would be helpful. Where exactly is this bolted?

Could it be the Secondary Air Injection Pump? It has 2 wires connected to it if I recall correctly.

for some reason that rings a bell...... I think there was a campaign out on the pump. if mammary serves me correct, i think it had issue with water in the pump. don't remember how it got there.

i feel it prudent to mention this. the fan clutch is a real noise maker on these. the "valve" may be vibrating normally and the noise associated with it. i could fill a dumpster with these fan clutches that i've replaced. if this is the case beware of damaging the transmission lines and take real care in threading the clutch on the pump. i drip dish washing detergent on the threads. makes it a whole lot easier. seems to work better than oil..................
