Re: Scheduler bleed over appointments
Not automated or graceful in any way but here's what we do... If the existing work is going to bleed over into the next day we check the next day's schedule. If the schedule somewhat wide open we usually don't do anything. However, if you definately need to allocate the time on the schedule for the...

Re: Scheduler bleed over appointments
Oh boy. This is an ongoing issue with us as well. But I have begun making notes on both the scheduler as well as the hard copy work order of additional time that may be needed and what to do when that happens. So far, the only way that I know of to allow for that is to initially physically allow fo...

Scheduler bleed over appointments
To those of you who are using the scheduler, how do you handle the appointments that bleed over into the next days? I know the scheduler will pick up on the estimates we have entered into the repair orders and allocate time for those. But what about the jobs that are not finished or those that were ...

Re: Default technician for parts
Mystery liked solved. I recall you saying your shop just recently started getting into the Schedule use. That's where those come from - the Technician value on the appointment is set for both parts and labor. Will have to think about how to best divorce those... Dan, I wonder if setting the default...

Default technician for parts
We recently updated to 9.2.0.4816 and I am seeing an issue that is continually getting worse. I have the default parts technician set to None because we do not use a technician for parts. Before this update, the selection always stayed on None. When I start a new repair order, the default technician...

Re: When was an appointment scheduled?
Hey Larry, We don't have an explicit value tracked for appointment creation date/time. Is the concern that someone is overbooking a given time frame? No, he just wants to make sure that if we have several scheduled appointments that are all coming in at approximately the same time, the first one sc...

When was an appointment scheduled?
We have been using the scheduler for a few weeks and my service manager is wondering if there is a way to determine when a specific appointment was scheduled. We may have several customers dropping off between 7:30 and 9:00 AM and he would like to be able to determine when each appointment was actua...

Re: Towing mileage ideas
We have our towing set up as a sublet instead of labor line. So it's pretty much set up to say (Towed from {location} to {shop/where it was dropped off}) And then we tally what the trip to and back would be for the pricing, so that way it did not mess with our labor hours. We also have this set up ...

Towing mileage ideas
I've been using ShopKey for at least 20 years. Since our shop also has a towing company, which entails loaded mileage charges at times, I have always had a labor rate set up for the mileage charges. In other words, $4.50 per mile, change the labor rate to that, then enter the number of miles as hour...

Service advisor for appointments
We have started using the scheduler in ShopKey and I have a question. My station also doubles as the database server. When I create an appointment, it automatically places my name as Service Advisor for the appointment. However, on the other three work stations that are using the scheduler, the Serv...

Customer display when searching
We have updated to 9.2.0.4481 and now when we search for a customer or company, the names that populate when typing the search are all on the right hand of the screen, rather than on the left side, under where I am typing. I have closed all of the work stations and tried to rearrange the columns, bu...

Fleet vs retail customers
Our owner recently sold our shop after 41 years, so we are under new management, a local company, thankfully. The new owners are interested in comparing fleet customers to our normal retail customer base. We have been having discussions about this and they have the idea to create different income ty...

Re: Manager SE 9.1 Job View release
Hi Larry! Take another look when you have a moment. The job containers themselves can be dragged and dropped for re-order in any way you want. *Edit* Tim beat me by 10 seconds. :) Okay, I figured it out. It does drag the job containers, but it does act like it does when you are dragging individual ...

Re: Manager SE 9.1 Job View release
I just installed the update and tried the new job view presentation. I like the concept, but it appears that the jobs can not be reordered on the repair order screen. That, in and of itself, prevents me from wanting to use it because I am OCD about how our repair orders appear on the screen. Every n...

Re: 9.0.0.2951 slows during the day
I can see a noticeable difference after tech support did their thing and then restarted the computer. It did not slow down at all yesterday.

Re: 9.0.0.2951 slows during the day
I just got off the phone with tech support. They deleted a lot of temporary files and compressed the database. They also recommended the computers be restarted at least once each week. (I normally only restart when it updates.)
So far, so good.
